E-WASTE MANAGEMENT
What Is E-Waste?
E-waste is a popular, informal name for electronic products nearing the end of their “useful life.” Air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, mobile phones, computers, VCDs, stereos, copiers, and fax machines are common examples. Many of these products can be reused, refurbished, or recycled.
E-waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world. While it contains valuable materials such as aluminium, copper, gold, palladium, and silver, it also holds harmful substances like cadmium, lead, and mercury. Without proper awareness, disposing of e-waste in landfills can result in toxic emissions that harm the air, water, and soil—posing serious health and environmental hazards.
Recycling Electronic Waste – Advantages
Electrical waste contains hazardous but also valuable and scarce materials. Up to 60 elements can be found in complex electronics. Most devices contain a mix of materials, including metals that can be recovered and reused. Through dismantling and reuse, we conserve natural resources and prevent air and water pollution caused by improper disposal. Additionally, recycling reduces greenhouse gas emissions generated from manufacturing new products.
Under the guidelines of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, the E-Waste Management Rules, 2016 have been notified. We recognize the importance of recycling useful and valuable material from e-waste to conserve our rapidly depleting natural resources. Recycling end-of-life products is vital to minimizing landfill and conserving resources.
In this regard, we have partnered with Eyantram Waste Management (P) Ltd to help customers safely dispose of their end-of-life electronic products.
As part of our partnership, Eyantram will provide EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) services and ensure environmentally sound recycling of electronics that have reached their end-of-life phase. Eyantram is fully authorized by government agencies for their processing facilities and ensures that e-waste is recycled or disposed of responsibly. This initiative helps protect the environment from hazardous consequences caused by inappropriate e-waste handling.
Do’s for E-Waste Disposal
- Always look for information in the product catalog for end-of-life handling instructions.

Don’ts for E-Waste Disposal
- Do not dismantle your electronic products on your own.
- Do not throw electronics into bins labeled “Do Not Dispose.”
- Do not give e-waste to informal or unorganized sectors like local scrap dealers or rag pickers.
- Do not dispose of electronic products in garbage bins along with municipal waste that ends up in landfills.
What Should I Do With My Electronic Discards?
The mantra of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” applies here:
- Reduce e-waste through smart usage and good maintenance.
- Reuse still-functioning electronics by donating or reassigning them.
- Recycle products that can no longer be repaired or reused.
Customers may hand over their end-of-life products at our nearest drop points for proper recycling. You can also:
- Call our PRO toll-free number: 1800-102-9918
- Email us at: help@microcenterindia.com
- Message us via WhatsApp: 9830109070
Upon request, we will coordinate with our logistics partner Delhivery for reverse pickup of your e-waste. It will then be routed to an empanelled recycler for safe and compliant disposal.
